CRi Announces New Professional Development Institute
December 5, 2024

In response to the results of a staff survey conducted in 2021, Community Residences, Inc. (CRi) has developed and launched a new Professional Development Institute (PDI) in support of direct care employees; staff members who directly support and provide services to people with disabilities. CRi’s new PDI includes opportunities for staff to complete curriculum offered by Direct Course and the National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals (NADSP).
Direct Course is an online curriculum for those interested in enhancing their skills and expertise in providing supports and people with disabilities. Course expose students to fresh perspectives and approaches that can be employed in daily interactions with the individuals supported by helping them grow and achieve their goals.
The National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) E-badge Academy provides students with the opportunity to high light the knowledge and skills attained through Direct Course and over the course of their career. Through testimonials, relating moments in daily interactions supporting individuals with disabilities, students will attain badges and certifications (e.g. DSP-I, DSP-II, DSP-III).
Ron George, Vice President of Business Development and Director of Human Resources at CRi shared, “CRi’s direct care staff are essential to delivering on the mission of the organization. The decision to incorporate Direct Course and NADSP into training offered to our staff came as a direct result of feedback we received from employees. These courses will help staff expand their knowledge and support of an organization that believes in investing in the education of our team members, and I am hopeful that this investment in our employees will not only provide future opportunities for current staff members but also be appealing to these seeking employments in the field of human services.”
