Community Living Program (CLP) - Mental Health Skills-Building Services virginia

Flexible & intentional, with a focus on individual skills building services, CRi staff works with individuals to provide necessary skills for managing daily life & maintaining ongoing mental health recovery & success.

Skill-Building Services are time-limited trainings & supports. These supports assist individuals with achieving & maintaining community stability through reinforcement of independent living skills, identifying & using other resources in the community, assistance with medication management & monitoring of psychical health & nutrition.

CRi’s Community Living Program (CLP)

CRi's Community Living Program (CLP) provides evidence-based skills building services that is flexible & responsive with a focus on individuals' strengths.Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) meet with individuals at either their home or in another community setting. CLP provides services that support the development of necessary life management & mental health recovery skills.


Skills promoted through CLP include:

  • Managing mental health symptoms to avoid crisis &/or hospitalizations
  • Maintaining a safe & clean home
  • Money management & filling out paperwork to avoid homelessness
  • Using a personal calendar to keep track of scheduled appointments
  • Utilizing public transportation & attending appointments independently
  • Connecting with community resources
  • Shopping for & preparing healthy meals & establishing good personal care habits
  • Medication management, including taking medications as prescribed & obtaining refills
  • Paying rent on time, advocating with landlords & preparing housing inspections
  • Improving social skills such as anger management, communication practices, interpersonal relationships, & assertiveness.

Eligibility

Individuals 18 & older with a serious mental illness who can be authorized for Mental Health Skills Building Services through one of these Managed Care Organizations: Magellan Complete Care of Virginia, Anthem Healthkeepers Plus, Optima Health Community Care, United Healthcare, Virginia Premier Elite Plus or Aetna Better Health of Virginia.
