Newbrook Day program and Newbrook Integrated Community Support program are two innovative behavioral programs providing a community-based alternative for individuals with a variety of disabilities and intensive behavioral support needs. There are two Newbrook Day programs, one in Chantilly at the HQ office, and second in Loudoun County, near the Dulles Town Center.
Newbrook Place is an innovative behavioral program providing a community-based alternative for individuals with a variety of disabilities and intensive behavioral support needs.
Through a variety of educational, recreational and therapeutic processes, individuals learn to overcome challenges by:
Every weekday at 9 a.m., Newbrook Place participants are greeted by a staff of counselors, a nurse, and the program director. As participants settle into the main activity area, they have opportunities for calming activities or social interaction.
Over the next six hours, activities in therapeutic horticulture and art, culinary training, recreation and personal planning help individuals discover and develop skills for coping and living with disabilities. But these are just a sampling of the activities that take place within the center. A full 50 percent of Newbrook Place services take place in the community for integration and social development. Individuals participate in outings such as canoeing, swimming, museum visits, and a day at the park,as well as activities like grocery shopping.
Newbrook Place promotes communication, positive behavior, social skills, development, self-care, home living independence, self-direction, personal advocacy, health and safety.
