CRi Announces First Volunteer of the Year Awardee Natasha Jeter

Chantilly, VA

Chantilly, VA—As part of its 50th Anniversary celebration, CRi launches the Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of the valuable role that volunteers have had in its successes. CRi is proud to honor Natasha N. Jeter as the first recipient of its Volunteer of the Year Award, honoring her unwavering commitment to education, mentorship, and community service on September 27 at CRi’s 50th Anniversary Gala & CRi Honors.

To be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award, an individual must best exemplify initiative and leadership, dependability, continuous engagement and involvement, and a deep respect for CRi’s mission and the individuals that it serves. A Volunteer of the Year goes the extra mile and has made a significant difference in CRi’s Community, volunteering for two or more events, initiatives, or programs per year.

“Natasha has brought her vibrant personality and dynamic experience as an advocate for education and justice to every moment of her volunteer work at CRi,” said Shannon White, CRi Volunteer Program Manager. “The warmth that she has showed the individuals that we serve, and our staff has been an inspiration to many and has left a lasting impression about the need for dedicated service.”

She is the proud mother of Quincy, a freshman at James Madison University. Together, they co-created a two-season podcast, Lessons My Son Taught Me, available on all streaming platforms with visual episodes on YouTube.

CRi’s Volunteer Program provides a variety of meaningful opportunities for individuals and groups to donate time toward its mission. CRi volunteers take on projects at any of our programs throughout Northern Virginia, Richmond, and Maryland ranging from home beautification to property maintenance. Volunteers can also work directly with the individuals CRi supports on an ongoing basis, doing activities such as arts and crafts or playing a game.
