  1. What is Community Fest?
    1. Community Fest is CRi’s second annual inclusive celebration that connects people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health needs with a broader community of families, direct support professionals, caregivers, and advocates. Community Fest strives to provide a joyful and welcoming environment where all attendees can participate, express themselves, and feel a sense of belonging.

    3. Location: Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts

    5. Event Spaces: Associates Pavilion, Ovations Pavilion, and Terrace Pavilion, near Encore Hill
  3. Who can attend?
    1. Anyone is welcome, who formally registers! We encourage people with disabilities and mental health needs, families, caregivers, guardians, and direct support professionals to join.
  4. How do I register?
    1. You can register here. Registration is needed to help us plan for food, activities, and accommodations.
  5. Are there any accessibility accommodations?
    1. Yes! Wolf Trap is fully accessible. If you require additional accommodations (ASL interpreters, mobility assistance, etc.), please let us know when you register.
  6. Is there a cost to attend?
    1. No, Community Fest is free for all attendees.
  7. Will there be food available?
    1. Yes! Guests will enjoy a cookout-style menu at Community Fest that has been selected by CRi’s own nutritionist. Food choices are accessible to all—featuring burgers (beef and veggie), potato salad, and pasta salad with textured and allergy-free options. If you have specific dietary restrictions, please indicate them when you register.
  8. Can I bring guests or family members?
    1. Absolutely! We welcome all friends and family members; each person should register separately, unless they’re bringing a guest with special needs.
  9. What kind of activities will be at the event?
    1. Attendees can enjoy activities like face painting, ring toss, balloon art, and more. We’ll also have a DJ, chair massages, and other entertainment to create a fun and engaging experience for all ages and abilities.
  10. Where can I park?
    1. Parking is available on Encore Hill and Lot 3, in front of the three pavilions where the event will take place: Ovations, Associates, and Terrace. For attendees who may have difficulty navigating the hill, drop-off at the top of the hill is available to ensure safe and convenient access to the event.
  11. Can I volunteer at the event?
    1. Yes! We welcome volunteers to help make the event a success. Please contact our Volunteer Program Manager, Shannon White, at swhite@mycri.org for more information.
  12. Will there be restrooms and changing facilities?
    1. Yes, Wolf Trap provides accessible restrooms, including family and changing facilities.
  13. What is the weather plan?
    1. Community Fest will be held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, updates will be updated on the Community Fest section of our website and sent to the email address attendees provided upon registering.
  14. Do I need to bring adaptive equipment for attendees?
    1. Direct support professionals (DSPs) and caregivers are expected to bring all adaptive and personal equipment required for their guests to enjoy and navigate the event, including feeding aids, mobility devices, and sensory tools. Examples include wheelchairs, walkers, noise-canceling headphones, adaptive utensils, specialized cups, or other items that help attendees fully participate in the event.
  15. Can I host a booth or table at Community Fest?
    1. Yes! You can sponsor one of our activity tables or booths. View sponsorship prospectus for opportunities still available.
      Please note that we cannot offer free tables or booths—sponsorship is the only way to secure a spot at the event.
  16. Is there a first aid station onsite?
    1. Yes, at the front of the accessible parking lot, to the left of the Quiet Space Pavilion (Terrace Pavilion). The first aid station will be fully staffed by CRi’s own nursing team, who is knowledgeable of CPR and any other medical needs.
