Heather Doane

Clinical Applications Manager

Inspired by her interest in the mind-body connection and the importance of mental and emotional support for people with disabilities, Heather sees her role with CRi as the bridge between the clinical and administrative teams. Her experience volunteering with the disability community at a local respite center influenced her desire to help people find balance and joy while navigating challenging physical symptoms and behaviors.

Since joining CRi’s Clinical Team in 2010, Heather has worked closely with Program Managers and Direct Support Professionals. Her understanding of their views benefited the development of CRi’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, enabling useful reporting for the monitoring of Individual Support Plans that track client advancement toward their goals.

As Clinical Applications Manager, Heather puts good use of her skills with databases and data analysis and has enjoyed supporting clinical staff with any troubleshooting or training needs. She has presented at national conferences on how to maintain staff engagement with an EHR, including by surveying staff satisfaction with newly introduced technologies.

As a person with a disability, Heather emphasizes efficient systems that are also user-friendly for staff and individual clients – because helpful systems allow staff and individuals to more effectively advocate for the support they need. When this advocacy aspect became even more important during the Covid-19 pandemic, she created daily reports to help ensure that programs could access all the resources needed to provide the best care.
