Henry's Story

Henry has faced unprecedented challenges over the past two years. With the support of group home staff, he has triumphed over obstacles that once triggered severe behavioral issues.

When Covid-19 forced closures and disrupted routines, Henry, who lives with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and an Intellectual Disability, struggled to cope. His predictable life was upended—his day program, community outings, and visits with his mother abruptly halted.

In the past, such changes would have sparked angry outbursts. Compounding this turmoil, Henry also lost his mother to illness during the lockdown.

However, with dedicated one-on-one support, Henry learned coping mechanisms, anger management skills, and how to navigate emotional pain. His progress has exceeded expectations, and he credits his group home staff and his brother for their unwavering support.

Now, Henry is eager to rejoin the community workforce, proud of the personal growth he has achieved. His journey is a testament to resilience and the power of compassionate care in overcoming adversity.
