Chantilly, VA– Community Residences, Inc. (dba CRi) is proud to release its FY 26-28 Strategic Plan, the culmination of a board-led effort over the last nine months to build resilience throughout CRi while simultaneously growing and improving sustainability. This Strategic Plan creates an ambitious roadmap for the months and years ahead and contains significant input from both internal and external stakeholders as well as community partners.

“The process of planning for the road ahead began with a thorough and honest look in the mirror and assessment of where we are today,” said Justin Zakia, President & CEO of CRi. “We saw an organization consisting of passionate caregivers and a proud history but also one that is not as sustainable as it could be. This strategic plan pushes us to grow and to make an even larger impact in our community by most efficiently utilizing our resources.”

CRi’s infrastructure, especially with regard to technology, needs an upgrade. CRi exists to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities and serious mental illness and, in order to accomplish this, it needs a more impactful voice in all of its communities and a more coherent message to share. CRi is also redoubling its efforts in the realm of fundraising and talent acquisition through all levels of the organization and will work to elevate the skill sets of board members and staff alike.

While the goals in this Strategic Plan are ambitious, they are achievable and the entire organization emerges from this planning process aligned and motivated to be successful. CRi is reaffirming its focus on building resilience for the organization as a whole through every available lever. The next 3 years will lay the groundwork for the following 47 and as we celebrate our 50th this fall we eagerly anticipate the work ahead in order to ensure that the organization not only survives but thrives for 50 more years.
